The LinkedIn algorithm has changed. Now what?

You’re not going crazy, I’m seeing it in my own numbers.

We’re in a moment on LinkedIn where something has shifted.

And it’s forcing us to make a choice that honestly feels… a bit like a moral dilemma.

You’ve probably noticed it too.

The algorithm has changed.
AI content is flooding the feed.
Posts that used to fly… just aren’t.

And now there are basically two camps forming.

Camp 1:
“Just do what you enjoy. The algorithm always changes. Post what feels authentic and trust it’ll work out.”

Camp 2:
“Play the system. Adapt to what’s working right now… LinkedIn is there to generate revenue. Not just self-expression.”

And this is what I’m genuinely wrestling with.

Because both are kind of right.

Let me show you why.

Last week I posted a text-only post.
No photo. No graphic. Just words.

48,000 impressions.

The day before?
A photo post. The kind I’ve always done. The authentic, personal style my brand was built on.

8,000 impressions.

Another photo post the week before?
Nearly 500 engagements… but only 10,000 impressions.

That’s a 6–7x difference in reach.

That’s not minor. That’s WIIIIILD.

So yes… the shift is not just in your head..

Now here’s where it gets a little messy for me.

My whole brand has been built on this:

Be yourself.
Don’t chase the algorithm.
Your voice is your unfair advantage.

And I still believe that. I always will.

But when your “authentic style” is underperforming by 80%… what do you actually do with that?

Look.

I know I’m in a privileged position.

I started posting two years ago when it was easier. Not easy - but easier. I’ve built 50K followers and a very loyal community. I’ve built an established business. I’m not relying on every single post to generate income.

So I can afford to experiment.
I can afford to be playful.

I’m very aware most people aren’t in that position.

If you’re just starting.
If LinkedIn directly impacts your revenue.
If this platform drives your leads.

You don’t have the luxury of spending a year “finding what you enjoy.”

If it doesn’t work…what’s the point?

LinkedIn takes time, effort and patience so it has to be worth it.

You need the algorithm to work for you.

Which means right now, you need to adapt.

So here’s the real dilemma:

Do you stay fully authentic and risk being invisible? Or do you adapt to the system and risk losing yourself?

And the honest answer (from someone genuinely in the middle of this)  is:

You CAN do both.

And no one is judging you for it.

When an influencer turns every post into an ad, you lose trust.

When a brand jumps on every trend and abandons its identity, it feels desperate.

But the strongest brands?

They evolve without losing themselves.

They adapt.
They test.
They adjust.
But they don’t abandon their voice.

Adapt with the algorithm.
Just keep your voice while you do it.

Now, with that in mind…

YOUR “ONE TINY ACTION” THIS WEEK (one I find really useful)

This week, do this:

Find 5 LinkedIn creators you genuinely love.

Not the 200K follower giants.
Find micro creators, 10K to 30K followers, who get solid engagement.

Study them.

Find their out-performers.
The posts that did 3x their usual reach.

Ask yourself:

• What worked?
• Why did it work?
• What feels aligned with their voice?

Then take that insight and use it as inspiration.

You’re sourcing from content that’s ALREADY validated.

But you’re aligning it with content you actually respect.

That’s not copying.

That’s being strategic.

And it’s free.

You can care about reach. And care about your voice.

Both things can be true.
